Our new exhibition presents a wide variety of animals and their structures: nests, caves, tunnels, honeycombs made of plants, earth, sand, clay, paper, wood, wax, stones, slime and silk. The exhibition is structured around these materials. Most of the objects come from the museum’s holdings, including special bird and paper nests, breeding caves and butterfly cocoons. All of these structures have been created by evolution and can be role models in many ways in terms of efficiency, ecological construction and sustainability. Our taxidermists spent more than five months assembling and preparing the objects for the exhibition. Many objects have never been shown before, including spectacular nest structures, wasp nests and even a small beaver dam.
